The Story Behind Repairs for Purpose
How a broken-down car became a movement to keep communities moving.
It Started in an Auto Shop
Dan Adam owns two social impact auto repair shops in Colorado Springs. Every week, he saw the same story: someone's car breaks down, and suddenly their whole life is at risk.
A single mom can't get to work. A senior citizen can't make their doctor's appointment. A student can't get to class. For people living paycheck to paycheck, an unexpected repair bill isn't just an inconvenience — it's a crisis.
Dan started the Stranded Motorist Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides emergency vehicle repairs to people in need. It helped. But demand always outpaced donations.
“What if we could fund this automatically? What if every coffee purchase, every haircut, every meal out could generate a small amount for people in crisis — without anyone having to reach into their wallet for a donation?”
That question became Repairs for Purpose.
RFP is community crowdfunding reinvented. Local businesses contribute a portion of sales from RFP users. Users choose which cause to support. Nonprofits receive passive, sustainable funding. And people facing transportation crises get the help they need.
No donation drives. No galas. No burnout.
Just everyday shopping, transformed into community impact.
Our Mission
